Wild birds feeding on the bits of food put out for them in the gardens, or wild birds feeding out of your hand, give a certain amount of satisfaction and pleasure. Anyone going to a local lake taken over by wild birds as a suitable source of food, is soon going to be
approached by a bird or two hoping to get a free feed. In some places, the wild geese and ducks have associated visiting humans as a source of free food, just like the pigeons in the city of London.

The wild birds give us their songs, the domesticated birds, or hens, give us their eggs. Feeding birds always seems to give us some kind of reward, whether they are free to roam, or on perches like parrots, or in cages like budgies. Caged birds seen in a Beijing market always seemed to be singing or chattering, and a parrot on a perch
could even speak Chinese! Men are often seen carrying caged birds to a recognised gathering part of a park, or even a road, where the cages are hung near to each other on the trees, so that the different birds in cages can ''chatter'' to each other, or perhaps learn a new song!
