Chinese Doctor With People In Africa Helping People During Time Of Drought And Famine In Africa.
Doctor Zhong, a Chinese Doctor, was a member of a Medical Group that went to Niger in Africa, to give some help to a particular group of the people in Africa, who were going through a period of drought and famine. Before he went with this group it was necessary for him to learn the French language, which he subsequently used when he met Kofi Annan, who made a visit to Niger whilst the Chinese doctors were there.
The living conditions of the African people living in the city in Niger, where the Chinese Doctors worked, were making it very hard for the people to protect themselves from the diseases brought about by the drought and famine. The worst infection of cholera causing the death of many of the people. Many of the children born to the families in Niger were lost, the death rate being very high for the newborn and young children.
After Kofi Anann had completed his visit to the hospital he and his Group left the hosital in their trucks, and as they did so Doctor Zhong felt a great deal of admiration for the Secretary General.
Although he knew that for Kofi Annan, his visit would have been just part of his working day, for the African people in this small town in Niger, who had suffered so much from the affects of drought, the visit would have been a symbol of hope for them. As a result of this visit by the Secretary General, the International Humanitatian Organisations, would be sending much needed aid to carry them through into a better future.
When Doctor Zhong considered what he had experience on that special day with the people of Africa, he was sure that the memories would remain with him forever. He felt that he had witnessed an event that would become a section of world history.
