Guilin Pictures Of Chinese Coolies And Dim Sum.
We had been to the post office and had crossed the road to take more Guilin pictures of the lake. These Chinese coolies shown in the Guilin pictures were asked why they were digging up the area around the monument. The nearer coolie replied, "Because we have been told to do so." The incident is recorded in the Guilin pictures without explanation. Perhaps a westerner taking Guilin pictures had raised suspicions in their minds !
The Chinese Dim Sum meal illustrated on this page of Guilin pictures shows some of the dishes available on the day. Waitresses in the Chinese restaurant moved between the tables with their trolleys, from which a choice could be made. The sweet and savoury aromas and flavours of the dishes can not be portrayed in the Guilin pictures, and will have to be left to your imagination. The cost of the meal was less than one quarter of what it would have been in the UK. The food that was not eaten at the table, was carefully packed up by the staff in the Chinese restaurant for us to take home.

The Chinese paper cuts were distributed by the China National Tourism Administration in the form of a special twelve picture calendar for the year 1999. The work of cutting and mounting all the Chinese Paper cuts was carried out by farmers in the Shanxi Province of China. |
