Mountains In China Terraced By Chinese Farmers.
**
**
Many China mountains have been terraced by Chinese farmers for growing their crops. Terraces on the China mountains serve the purpose of reducing soil erosion and providing Chinese farmers with land to cultivate. Without the terraces on such China mountains, as shown in these photographs, the growing of crops would be virtually impossible.
The terraces on the China Mountains near Longsheng are quite ancient, but it is a system of cultivation, still in use by
Chinese farmers today. Near the town of Huang Jinao, Hunan Province, in recent years, a family of Chinese farmers cleared and terraced the China mountains near their home to grow crops of grapes and chestnuts. The China mountains were cleared and terraced without the use of any heavy machinery.
